Description
You will make a lap sized Quilt Top, at the end of the weeks we will discuss various methods of quilting which you will complete outside of the class
YOUR PROJECT:
THE RAIL FENCE LAP QUILT
A rail fence quilt is a traditional patchwork quilt design made using a simple block pattern. The design mimics the look of a split-rail fence, where horizontal bars (or “rails”) are stacked and arranged diagonally to create a zigzag effect. After the strips are sewn together, the blocks are rotated or set at angles. For example, adjacent blocks may be rotated by 90 degrees to form a staircase-like or zigzag pattern when sewn together. This is considered a great beginner project because of its simple, repetitive block structure. It’s also highly versatile, as it allows for a wide range of color combinations and fabric styles. Overall, the rail fence quilt pattern is beloved for its simplicity and bold geometric look, offering a lot of design flexibility despite its straightforward construction.
