You Will Learn:

  • how to measure for a hem on skirts/dresses and trousers
  • the importance of letting a garment hang before hemming
  • double folded hem (a classic hem)
  • narrow hem & rolled hem
  • a blind hem – sewn by hand & discuss sewing this type of hem on the machine
  • how to take up jeans and keep the original hem
  • a faced hem and bias bound hem

Sewing Machine:
– Sewing machines are available for all to use however if you would prefer to bring your own machine please contact me with the make and model of your machine and I will let you know if it would be suitable to bring to class.

SKILL LEVEL:

Suitable for Level 1 or ideally Level 2 

You must know how to use a sewing machine confidently but no prior experience of dressmaking is required (although recommended).
