Goodbye Sea Salt & Stitches, Hello Threadquarters!

Hello, and welcome to Threadquarters!

Thanks for popping by. You may have clicked over from my old blog, Sea Salt & Stitches. Or my Instagram account – which used to go by that name too. Threadquarters is my new space online to share my latest sewing adventures.

Why the change?

I have been blogging for a long time. Maybe 9 years. Throughout my blogging life I have had a few ‘name’ changes, each change reflecting a different stage in my life, both personal and sewing.

I know the traditional advice is to pick a name and stick with it for life, but sometimes you just don’t know where ‘life’ will take you! Ā I began my blogging life as Starfishes. Don’t ask me why, I have no answer. But this was in the early days of blogging, and before I owned a sewing machine. So the blog was really more like an on-line diary of sorts. I shared little snippets of my life, trips around Northern Ireland and my latest culinary accomplishment. During this time my Mother bought me a sewing machine (which is still the one I use today) and my blog started to become more focused on sewing. I decided a blog dedicated to my sewing journey was a good idea, and Su Sew So So was born.

But there came a point where I decided that I was actually sewing a little bit better than ‘so so’, and decided I needed a revamp. This coincided nicely with my move to the coastal town of Ballyholme. I knew I would be spending a lot of time focusing on doing up my house and also becoming a mother and thought perhaps my blog may lean more towards the ‘lifestyle’ category. Thus Sea Salt and Stitches came into being. And I have loved my little blog for the last 4/5 years, although recently I haven’t been blogging very much (but that’s a whole other conversation…is Instagram the new blog?). It turns out that I’m actually not much of a ‘lifestyle’ blogger after all, and wrote very little about my house transformation.

I am a sewing addict through and through, and I really wanted my blog, and social media presence, to truly reflect that.

I decided that, although it may be risky, I needed a ‘re-brand’. There are quite a few exciting things happening over the next year, and Threadquarters.co.uk is where I’ll be sharing everything with you. I am really thrilled with all the fun sewing things I have planned and cannot wait for it all to unfold!

Please take some time to explore my new website. It’s still in it’s infancy, so there may be a few teething problems (hopefully not too many – some photos transfers from Sea Salt & Stitches are playing up a bit). I have a dedicated page for my YouTube videos, the Blog of course, and a specialĀ Collaboration page if you would like to get in touch about working together!

Ooh I love it! I sometimes wonder about mine as well but am a bit too scared to make the leap (also because I don’t have a good alternative name) so I’m applauding you. šŸ˜€ I also really want to make a ‘proper’ WordPress blog rather than my free one so this is quite inspiring. Looking forward to hearing more about what’s coming!

Oh gosh, it was so much more work than I thought it was going to me – and at times I was starting to think I shouldn’t have bothered! I’m still trying to figure out WordPress too, it’s so different from what I’ve been used to. But hopefully all for the best! Hope to see you back on YouTube sometime soon Jen, I always loved your vlogs xx
